St Leonard’s is located in the conservation area of the village and is the proud owner of a brand new roof (at a cost of £1 million or thereabouts). It was saved from imminent collapse by The National Lottery Heritage Fund and the mastery of Andrew Lambourne, a local resident who during a period of 4 years was able to expertly navigate the complexities of the grant application to secure the necessary funding. The church is over 900 years old and it boasts some magnificent and rare medieval wall paintings. It is well worth a visit either for a service or from a Heritage and historical perspective. It now has some lovely amenities; running water, a new kitchen, toilet facilities, a meeting room, a new organ, step free access and wifi. The church is obviously an ideal choice for weddings and Christenings, but it also plays host to book and flower festivals, musical soirées, quizzes and even a puppet theatre has performed there.
Services are held generally at 11:15am each Sunday, Sunday school takes place on the first Sunday of the month, plus there are other services in the week. The church is a perfect venue for weddings, christenings and other services as required.
